Another amazing musical adventure on board the Soren Larsen. Just love this ship, the amazing crew and of course being on board with such incredible musicians. My head is filled with tunes and happy memories! Thanks for an epic trip

There is no way to possibly describe this trip in words, though I daresay I'll try. The rich musical experience, expert knowledge of the crew and leaders, the kindness and friendliness of everyone on board and the stunning Sydney coastlines and wilderness made this easily one of the best things I've ever done. Every day was different, and I was too busy learning new tunes, swimming, exploring national parks or making friends with other musos or crew members to notice the time passing... I've never felt so alive. There was always an adventure to be had, but also options for those who preferred some quiet time onboard the ship, as well as downtime where needed throughout the day. The general atmosphere of inclusivity and flexibility made me feel very welcome, especially as a less experienced session musician. I gained so much musical knowledge and influence from others, and came away from the voyage with an overflowing heart and a head full of new tunes to explore on the shore. Thank you from the bottom of my heart to everyone involved who made this experience so phenomenal. Sessions and Sail will forever be one of my fondest memories, and I hope I'll be able to join again!

This was my first time on a Tall Ship, although I’ve sailed many times on an old pearling lugger, it’s not quite the same really. Size is the first impression that struck me when I came aboard. It’s 140 ft is very grand and comforting. Right from day one the week we all had was full of adventure, laughter and great music, as everyone contributed to the songs and compositions making it very inclusive. Masses of violins, guitars, banjo and flutes, even a Celtic Harp, so beautiful, all contributed to a wonderful orchestra. One could not help but tap a foot and sing along. Shanty’s, Reels and Folk Songs ruled the waves. The food was superb with three meals each day beautifully presented, nourishing and always tasty, with a Happy Hour Honesty Tab. We also had two dress-up celebratory dinners below with many clinking of glasses, laughs and cheers. The music really added to our long haul trip providing relief and laughter as compositions were played and replayed. It also added to the enjoyment for passing craft with the waves and curious smiles passing us by. I was also fascinated and enthralled with the climbing and setting of sails when fair winds were with us. Evidently nearly half our sailing time was spent under sail. The crew were very efficient and seemed so in love with their roll as a shanty was bellowed from above. I’m planing another venture next year. A huge Ahoy to Captain Marty Woods, his wife Head Cook Louise and 2nd Mate daughter Annabel.

It was just marvellous. Would give it more than 5 stars. Great itinerary, fantastic crew and group of voyagers. Obviously a beautiful ship and perfectly fit for purpose. The tutors were brilliant. I especially enjoyed the songwriting prompts and the encouragement to explore and expand our musical horizons from wherever we were at.

I had a wonderful time on this trip. I was already familiar with Sydney Tall Ships but had not sailed on the Soren Larsen and I definitely fell in love with the boat. I will certainly sail on it again. The sessions and sails team were very open, friendly, musically very competent and also very helpful. I am not familiar with much Scottish music and took a while to get used to it but I did enjoy it very much. The crew and the other musical guests on the ship were a very friendly group and everyone got on really well The music tuition was very good and there were very many lovely impromtu sessions which were a joy to listen to. We were blessed with good weather and the sailing and on-shore activities were well organised. If there is another S&S event next year I will definitely book a place. 10/10

What a fantastic time I had on board The Lady for the singer/songwriting trip. The tutors, Jenny Sturgeon and Adam Ross were extremely experienced and so supportive, creating a safe space to explore your creativity. Definitely worth every penny and a life changing experience. What an extremely talented crew as well, food and banter was brilliant, thank you 💜 I’ll be back 🎶🎶🎶💜💜💜
